Guardians of India's Natural Heritage

The Biodiversity Conservation Society of India (BCSI) is a registered non-profit organisation committed to the protection, restoration, and sustainable management of India's extraordinary biological diversity. Since our founding, we have brought together ecologists, community leaders, indigenous knowledge holders, and concerned citizens under one shared purpose.

We believe that lasting conservation is only possible when the people who live closest to nature are empowered to protect it. Our integrated approach combines rigorous field science with deeply rooted community engagement — making every intervention both ecologically sound and socially just.

Our Vision

An ecologically resilient India where biodiversity flourishes, ecosystems are revitalised, and communities sustainably coexist with nature — now and for generations to come.

Our Mission

BCSI strives to protect and restore biodiversity by strengthening community participation, delivering advanced and effective conservation programmes, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, and championing sustainable practices across India.

Featured Conservation Projects

From snow leopard corridors in the Himalayas to sea turtle nesting beaches on the Odisha coast — our projects span India's most biodiverse landscapes.

Afforestation / Reforestation

We undertake afforestation and reforestation initiatives to restore degraded landscapes, enhance green cover, and improve ecological balance. Our efforts focus on planting native species to support biodiversity, combat climate change, and promote long-term environmental sustainability.

Urban Greening

Our urban greening programs aim to transform cities into healthier, more livable spaces by increasing green cover through parks, roadside plantations, and community-driven initiatives. These efforts help reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and enhance overall well-being.
