Conservation
Guardians of India's Natural Heritage
The Biodiversity Conservation Society of India (BCSI) is a registered non-profit organisation committed to the protection, restoration, and sustainable management of India's extraordinary biological diversity. Since our founding, we have brought together ecologists, community leaders, indigenous knowledge holders, and concerned citizens under one shared purpose.
We believe that lasting conservation is only possible when the people who live closest to nature are empowered to protect it. Our integrated approach combines rigorous field science with deeply rooted community engagement — making every intervention both ecologically sound and socially just.

Vision & Mission
Our Vision
An ecologically resilient India where biodiversity flourishes, ecosystems are revitalised, and communities sustainably coexist with nature — now and for generations to come.
Our Mission
BCSI strives to protect and restore biodiversity by strengthening community participation, delivering advanced and effective conservation programmes, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, and championing sustainable practices across India.
Featured Conservation Projects
From snow leopard corridors in the Himalayas to sea turtle nesting beaches on the Odisha coast — our projects span India's most biodiverse landscapes.
Afforestation / Reforestation
We undertake afforestation and reforestation initiatives to restore degraded landscapes, enhance green cover, and improve ecological balance. Our efforts focus on planting native species to support biodiversity, combat climate change, and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
Urban Greening
Our urban greening programs aim to transform cities into healthier, more livable spaces by increasing green cover through parks, roadside plantations, and community-driven initiatives. These efforts help reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and enhance overall well-being.
Environmental Education
We promote environmental awareness through structured education programs, workshops, and community engagement activities. Our goal is to empower individuals, especially youth, with knowledge and skills to become responsible stewards of the environment.
Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation
We work to reduce human-wildlife conflicts through community-based strategies, awareness campaigns, and sustainable solutions that ensure the safety and coexistence of both humans and wildlife.
Wildlife Conservation and Protection
Our organization is dedicated to protecting wildlife and preserving natural habitats through conservation programs, field interventions, and advocacy. We strive to safeguard endangered species and maintain ecological integrity.
Pollution Mitigation Programs
We implement targeted initiatives to reduce air, water, and soil pollution. Through awareness drives, waste management programs, and sustainable practices, we aim to create cleaner and healthier environments.
Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation
We provide rescue, medical care, and rehabilitation for injured, orphaned, and distressed animals. Our efforts focus on ensuring their recovery and safe return to their natural habitats whenever possible.
Wildlife Corridors Protection
We advocate for and support the protection of wildlife corridors to ensure safe movement of species across fragmented habitats. These corridors are essential for maintaining genetic diversity and ecological balance.
Sustainable Development
We promote sustainable development practices that balance environmental conservation with social and economic growth. Our initiatives focus on resource efficiency, community participation, and long-term ecological resilience.
Eco-Friendly Agriculture
We promote eco-friendly agricultural practices that prioritize environmental sustainability, soil health, and resource efficiency. Our initiatives encourage the use of natural inputs, water conservation techniques, and climate-resilient farming methods that enhance productivity while minimizing ecological impact and preserving biodiversity.
Solid Waste Management
We implement integrated solid waste management solutions focused on waste reduction, segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal. Through community engagement and awareness programs, we aim to minimize environmental pollution, promote circular economy practices, and create cleaner, healthier communities.
